I first met SoCal Crazy where everyone meets their best friends…. At wrestling training right? 23 years ago I went to The Colorado Kid Mike Rapada’s Training School in a backyard in Oceanside because of a newspaper article.. really I wanted to find a way to push merchandise but it ended up being much more that that and there was SoCal Crazy, Ryan Stone & David E Jones among others you all know.. We all hit it off from there! He was always so nice polite and helpful to absolutely anyone who wanted to get into wrestling, Talk sports or Batman!
In 2006 he was one of the first people who knew about the start of SoCal Pro Wrestling and was so excited about the start of it because he remembered when wrestling shows were happening in SD but it had been a few years. He quickly became the go to guy. The guy who wanted to help the guy who wanted see a company strive and give people a place to go to watch wrestling and he quickly became the face of not only SoCal Pro but all of San Diego. It wasn’twasnt before long every single promoter was calling him and he was everywhere! Sure…. Lots of people go everywhere but it takes a special person to stay everywhere! And that’s what he did!
2 Years later the SoCal Pro Wrestling Training School Opened up. He was our only trainer and boy did he want to teach!! Nestor was so dedicated to welcoming people in to learn the art of Pro Wrestling. His patience, dedication and willingness to teach is unmatched. For 10 years he had some hand in helping train every single pro wrestler to come out of San Diego and he took so much pride in that. The list is long!
He would always love when people would come in and say Lucha Libre? I don’t want to learn that. He would laugh and say I was trained by one of the greatest in TJ Pandilleo II AND you’re going to learn whether you know it or not. He had his way in training to push people and make them realize their potential when they didn’t believe in themselves.
You knew what you were getting from SoCal Crazy when you saw he was on the show and it was 100% for the fans he wanted to do whatever he could do to make sure if you paid for a ticket to see him then you got your moneys worth.Things started to slow down and if you were available to make it out and see him over the last few years it was a treat. He really pushed himself hard to be there when you all got to see him. If you got to see his final match in June at the SD Fair just know he really fought hard to be there for that one. It was a special place for him to wrestle and was his favorite event to do! He couldn’t miss it.
If you want to go watch a match go watch SoCal Crazy vs. Super Crazy 2019. This was his all time dream match he wanted his whole life. I was happy to have been able to do that for him for all he’s done for us!
I don’t think he ever would have guessed the outpouring of love the wrestling community has shown him. It’s quite overwhelming to see. I just can’t believe how many lives he touched by being just a good person & treating everyone with respect and you can look and you won’t find a single negative thing about Nestor and that really says everything. More people need to be like that and I challenge anyone to strive for this reaction when its your time.. Im just not sure it will happen like this again. He really was the best all around to ever come out of CA. It sure was a pleasure to see it grow to that!
